Our Christmas

Okay, for those of you who are dying to know about our Christmas, here goes...

Saturday morning, we went to Mom's grave, and then we went to Nanny and Pawpaw's (Mom's parents). We spent the whole day with aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and others that I'm not sure who they were. We played Dirty Santa, which is a lot of fun. Talked and ate. We went to my Uncle Teddy's for a while for a surprise birthday party for his wife, my Aunt Kay. Her b'day is the 24th. Kinda sucks, huh? We had a really good time. Not so much grief and pressure this year.

Sunday, after church, we went to my Aunt Karen's house in Vestavia. She is Dad's sister, and we gather at her house instead of Granny's in Jasper. It's more kid-friendly. We always have a blast there. We have several cousins our age. It's a more level field, conversationally speaking. We just have more areas of common ground, I think. Always a good time.

Monday, Dad and Granny came to our house, along with Crissy's bunch. Lots of fun chaos. It's terrific having the kids here. I dread a time when they won't come here for Christmas. Hope it won't happen. We had brunch, opened gifts, laughed. Fun times, fun times.

Tuesday, Scott was up early. He finally woke the rest of us at 10:30. (We value sleep in this house.) We opened gifts and had a fun time. It was neat to have our small, family gift-opening time on Christmas morning. That was the first time that's happened since before Ellas was born. We have revamped our Christmas schedule to relieve the stress. I liked this better.

Today, we went to Wal-Mart and got some good deals. I'm all about a good deal. The more I save, the more I like it. I learned that from my Mama. I've already started shopping for next year's gifts. YEA!!! My goal is to be through shopping before Thanksgiving. Who knows if it'll happen or not?!
