Scott's B'day Trip

Hello all! I am blogging from our hotel suite in Decatur, AL. The guys are asleep, and this is the only downtime I've had today. Today is Scott's 43rd birthday. He decided that, for his special day, he wanted our little foursome family to go away for a few days. His work is stressful, and he's tired. Anyway, it was my job to present him with a variety of destinations, a workable budget, and a list of fun outings/activities. So, how did we decide on Decatur? Well, I'll tell you.

When Crissy and I were growing up, we were poor. Now I'm not talking about
couldn't-get-our-allowance-occasionally kind of poor. I mean the kind where mom's wondering how to feed a family of four the next few days until payday with 1 pound of dry beans, a jar of peanut butter, and 2 columns of saltine crackers. (True story.) The really cool part is that God always provided and that we, as kids, were completely clueless as to the extent of our situation. Anyhoo, mom would always try to think of fun and inexpensive entertainment and daytrips. She heard about Point Mallard water park through some friends and decided to give it a whirl. It was so awesome and affordable that we went back many times over the years.

The park is owned by the city of Decatur and is the location of America's first wave pool. How cool!! They have always run discounts and specials of all types. Back then, it was half price if you were on staff at a school. (Mom worked at Jefferson Christian Academy for no pay so that Crissy and I could get a terrific education.) Nowadays, Mondays and Wednesdays are half price all day long. Our family got in for $29.50. You can't beat that with a stick!

As for our plans for tomorrow, I'm not sure. We'll figure it out over breakfast. Well, I'll post again tomorrow night with the fascinating details of our day. LOL
